How are these kids growing up so fast? STOP!!!!

We have another 5 year old in the house! Sophie turned 5 and we had a little party for her! Complete with cake, presents and party favors!

She LOVES anything pink and EVERYTHING princess! She has already worn her cougar cheerleading outfit to one bball game and I'm sure will be wearing it to many, many more sporting events to come!

Sophie LOVES preschool and loves to wear dresses. She is a lot sassy and a lot stubborn. But we'll keep her! Her brother and sister adore her! We love you Soph!

2012 is HERE!

2012 is going to bring some big changes to the Clegg house...and we can't wait!!!

Firstly, this little guy is a Sunbeam...can you believe it!?!? He is so cute and LOVES every minute of it! He is now potty trained (after 4 attempts)! And wants a special treat after every successful time! We are still struggling with #2 in the potty, but that will come!

Secondly, baby #4 will join our family on March 8th! 7 weeks away now...that went by fast!!!

Thirdly, we are building a home! Scheduled to be completed no later than July 15th! We are so excited! We are working with an amazing builder and could not be more amazed at how hard they are already working. We only signed the paperwork two weeks ago and the foundation is scheduled to be poured within the next week. 2 days after signing paperwork they were already excavating.

We are at a bit of standstill this week as we've had 12+ inches of snow and it's still coming down. I haven't left the house in two days. Hoping to get out tonight though and attend the WSU vs. Stanford Men's bball game. Grace hasn't had school for two days and we're all going a little stir crazy!

We enjoyed a very quite Christmas at our house this year. While we miss spending time with family, we really enjoy creating our own memories together.

On Christmas Eve we made sugar cookies for santa and watched the Polar Express and of course opened our traditional pj presents! The kids were so excited this year for Santa to...it was really fun for Garrett and I.

And the loot!!! Santa was very generous to the kids this year! Pillow Pets, hula hoops, books, bikes, candy, candy, candy and some new shoes...plus much more!

Last year I spent a lot of time making these advent calendars for the kids. Looks like I am going to need to make one more too...

I fill them with all sorts of things...and actually start collecting things months before Christmas. Each day they open a bag. It's a highlight for the kids. I love it too!

I made about 75 drawstring bags then used freezer paper as a stencil for the the numbers. I LOVE how they turned out! I have them hung with some wooden handled jump ropes!

2 days down and 20 more to go! Hopefully Brady doesn't peek in too many bags between now and then...I've already caught him trying a couple of times!

Cruise to the North Pole

While the Christiansen clan was here for the Holiday weekend we decided to venture a couple hours slightly northeast to a little town called Coeur d'alene. There is a great resort situated right on Lake Coeur d'alene with the world's largest floating boardwalk...among other things.

We heard about a cruise that takes you to the North Pole, so we bought tickets and bundled up for the 40 minute tour. We cruised around the boardwalk, then all the way across the lake to where Santa was. He read off the "nice" list and sure enough...all the kids' names were on there!

On the way home the kids wrote letters to Santa. They turned out SOOOOO cute. I couldn't bring myself to turn them in to his elves on the ship though. I am saving them!

There is something like a million or so lights all around the boardwalk and the other side of the lake...these are just a few of them. It was fun!

WE have a 7 year old!

Grace turned 7 over the weekend, so we had a little party for her while her cousins were here. She chose chocolate cupcakes with hershey's kisses in the middle (which were delicious) and we sang to her and opened presents.

She asked for some chapter books she could read by herself. So I chose the first 4 books in the Magic Treehouse series. She is doing great reading them. I love to hear her read out loud!
Brady picked out a lego star wars ship for her...he and Sophie were WAY more excited to put it together than Grace. Sophie was trying to sneak it away and open it by herself more than once. (As you can tell Sophie is even in the picture)
Sophie picked out Connect 4. It's a little intense for them, but they are getting it. They love to watch the chips all fall out the bottom.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year for our family was full of things to be thankful for...mostly to Hillary and Rob for making the trek from SLC to spend the weekend here with us. It was so great to have family to spend the day with!

The kids had a blast being together. They played football, soccer, LEGOS (actually this was the activity of choice for the weekend...it was a HUGE distraction for them!), and they put on a music concert for us! It was so much fun!

Here is the kids table for dinner. I made rainbow jell-o cups for the kids and that was a HUGE hit...a way bigger hit than the turkey that's for sure.
Here is the spread. Mashed potatoes, gravy, bacon-wrapped green beans, wild rice, rolls, turkey, artichoke heart stuffing, spinach salad and the turkey of course! It was delicious. We had sparkling cider to top it off and then finished the day with pumpkin and chocolate cream pies. DELICIOUS!

I hate black friday shopping, but for some reason Garrett was all about going this year. So we put the kids to bed and Hillary and Rob hung out at the house while we ventured to WALMART for some deals. People are CRAZY. But we got some great stuff and were back home in bed before 11.

This is the view from the back door of our house. We have a decent sized hill back there! Two weekends ago we had about 6 inches of snow and the kids were outside until dark three days in a row! They couldn't get enough of it! It was actually perfect. I didn't have to get all bundled up to take them sledding...I just sent them to the back yard. PERFECT!!!

Brady was hilarious...he couldn't see around the sled..he just guessed where he was headed while he marched up the hill.
Can't wait for more snow! And Uncle Zach was here this weekend too and the kids LOVED having him out there with them! Thanks for coming Uncle!

We are going to miss this house and ALL of our friends in Snoqualmie! But are so excited to start our new life in Pullman!
Here is the truck all loaded.
And here it is before they loaded it. It was HUGE! 53'. We had packers and movers on both ends. We didn't have unpackers though...that was all me!

Moving is the pits. I really don't like it at all. But having other people do it for you made is so much more enjoyable, if it can even be that!?!?!

We are all settled here in Pullman. Grace has started school and we LOVE having Garrett around. He even gets to come home for lunch most days! It's Saturday today and we unpacked the last box this morning. Things are hung on the walls and we have the internet! It's feeling more like home every day!

We have two little fairies at our house and one brave knight this year!

Here are our pumpkins too! The girls drew what they wanted theirs to look like and then mom helped carve them. They turned out pretty cool!

We have already been trick-or-treating at a church party over the weekend and had a blast. Tonight it's the real deal though and the kids are pumped! Keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain on us!

Pouring Rain & the Pumpkin Patch

Sophie's preschool pumpkin patch field trip was on Friday and of course it was pouring rain. But here in Snoqualmie NOTHING is cancelled due to rain. So we got our rainboots on and pulled out the umbrellas. It was still great. Garrett surprised us and came home for the weekend a day early and was great to have along for the trip!

We went on a hayride, made stomp rockets, ate s'mores and of course picked out our pumpkins. It was so fun and the kids didn't care at all about the rain. They are used to it afterall!

Missing Teeth!

Grace lost her first two teeth on Friday. They have been loose for a few weeks now and really, really loose this whole week. But we waited for daddy to be home to do the pulling! Grace was so brave and let him pull out both teeth. Then the tooth fairy visited our house Friday night! We have one seriously cute little 6 year old! Her two adult teeth have already come in behind the two loose ones too, so she's not really toothless.

Sophie is learning a ton this year in preschool and having a ton of fun! These ladies run an amazing preschool. Today she came home with a huge scarecrow made out of recycling. She had it all decorated with sparkly beads and of course a PINK hat!

He now sits at daddy's spot at the table! Gotta love it!!!

P.S. and in other news, we SOLD our house!!!! Closing beginning of November! YEAH, now we can live with Garrett again!

Ballet

Here is our little ballerina! Sophie started taking a pre-ballet class a few weeks ago and seriously could NOT be more in her element! We will be doing classes like this for a long, long time I have a feeling. She wore her ballet outfit for a week before the class even started.

Her first day of class we were able to stay and watch and Garrett happened to be home then too. Sophie never stopped smiling the whole time.

Soccer

This was taken at our end of season pizza party! We had a great group of kids and parents and an amazing coach, who happened to be Aiden's mom.
We have had a very busy 6 weeks around here. Good thing for me I only have one kid to get places. Grace has been playing soccer for the Riptide Pirates! She LOVED it!

We had games twice a week, rain or shine and lucky for everyone the very last game was the only rainy one. But boy was it bad...windy and dumping. The field was a puddle and the ball didn't move. But the kids totally had a blast!

Grace scored a goal in almost every game and was the best dribbler by far. There were 7 kids on her team and they were all great kids. The moms on the sidelines were by far louder than the dads. We cheered for the kids like crazy! They play 3-3 and don't keep score. But during any game ask any kid the score and they KNOW it. It's hilarious.

Garrett was able to see only one game, but that night Grace scored 3 goals!!

SO Garrett happened to be home unexpectedly during the week and we had an unexpected non-rainy day that same day...so I called my great friend, Becky, and she was up for taking last minute family pics for us! Luckily I had been thinking about our family pics since August and I had all the outfits ready to go. We just needed the boys to get their hair cut and everyone in the shower. But we pulled it off and they turned out amazing! I love my little family. And you still can't tell that i'm almost 19 weeks, so that's a HUGE bonus!

We had the perfect picture for our Christmas card too. But I'm not sharing that one today. You'll have to wait to get your card in the mail! P.S. I already ordered my cards this week too!

The Loaded Post!

So here is the latest and greatest on the Clegg family of Snoqualmie, Washington...

We now have a HEAD Men's Coach in the family!

Garrett has been offered the job at WSU, in Pullman, Wa. We are so excited! He has already started and the kids and I are here...

Campus!
We NEED to sell this house! So that we can all move over to Pullman together. Right now we are living 4 1/2 hours away from each other. Not ideal, but you do what you've got to do.

And in other news...
Clegg baby #4 will be arriving sometime around March 15th. As if things aren't crazy enough, let's have another baby! We are really excited about this to say the least. The kids can't wait to have a baby brother or baby sister. And this time we aren't going to find out the gender. Let's try something different and be surprised!

And that leads us to the last big change...good bye Honda Accord, you've been so faithful and a trooper, but you're OLD!!! Hello Honda Odyssey!

Yup we are now a mini-van family. I always said that I would NEVER get a mini-van...but 4 kids sort of requires one. And what do you know...I LOVE IT!!!

Yeah, so that's pretty much it. Lots of news on the homefront. All good things though!

WSU football weekend

We spent the long Labor Day weekend in eastern washington. We went to the WSU football game, played at some parks, swam and soaked up the sun! It was really fun!

Sophie gets a 1st Day!

Sophie has started PRESCHOOL!!! This has been a long time coming too. She wanted to go two years ago when Grace went. And now it's all her own! She has to wear a dress every day and runs in without even so much as a see you later mom. She has Miss Leslie and Miss Sandy and could NOT be more in her element! Stop growing up!

First day of school

Today is the first day of 1st Grade for Grace! I am sad that she'll be gone all day! She is so excited though!

Saying good-bye before running in...
We went to the school yesterday for "Meet your Teacher" day. Grace found her desk, her very own desk and put her supplies in it. She also found her cubby and the lunchbox bin.

Grace is going to learn so much from her Teacher. I just can't believe that I won't have her around during the day! Sophie starts preschool next week and she is beyond excited about that!

Two weeks in MN

We kids and I spent the last two weeks with the Beach family in Minnesota! We had a blast! It was so fun to see everyone and play with the cousins! We swam in the lake every day except one, when it rained and rained. We went to the zoo, rode the carousel, ate yummy food and went to the MN State Fair.

The kids LOVED every minute they were able to swim. Some days we were out there for 4 hours. We had some casualties though...the snake and hippo floaties didn't make it home. One floated down the river and the others popped. There was even a near disaster as Brady almost floated down the river too! Good thing mom was there and willing to jump in the lake, fully clothed, to save him. Grandma and Auntie Mara got a really good laugh at my expense!

I haven't been to the MN State Fair in 9 years and that was a MUST for this time. We stayed extra long to be able to do it. We went opening day and had a blast. There is a newer building called the Miracle of Birth Center where animals are set to deliver during the 10 day run of the fair. We saw baby pigs be born and almost a calf...the mom was having a hard time and the building was closing for the night. Grace was sad to have missed that. There were baby goats and lambs and chicks and ducks and bunnies...everything! The kids were able to put them too. Super fun!!

And of course what would the fair be without the FOOD?!?! We ate and ate. Here are Sophie and Cole sharing a ICEE with Auntie Mara. We ate fries, cheese curds, lemonade, australian battered potatoes, gyros, corn dogs and laffy taffy. We finished off the day with Sweet Martha's chocolate chip cookies and all you can drink milk for $1.

The Giant slide was the kids' favorite of the day. We rode it three times. Sophie was brave and rode it by herself the first time, but was falling off. So she asked if I would ride it with her the next time. Super fun!

Dress up Night

Brady is 3!

I can't believe this little guy is 3 years old! He is so much fun to have in our family! He loves his sisters and mom and dad and has to do EVERYTHING that we are all doing...building, sewing, coloring, painting...whatever you're doing he's right on your heels!

He also loves Spiderman and Legos and cars. TOTAL boy! Most days you can find him wearing his rainboots (rain or shine) and carrying his whole pile of blankets around.

Weekend Getaway

A couple of weeks ago we spent a weekend overnighter at this amazing cabin near Bremerton. The kids LOVED canoeing and riding in the paddleboat. They also collected slugs and swam, swam, swam.

It was great to get away. And Garrett was in HEAVEN being able to fish. (even though he didn't catch anything!)

Lil Dawg Soccer Camp

Grace has been in a soccer camp at UW all week. And she has been LOVING it! The women's soccer team does an amazing job. This is Grace's second year doing it and it's a for sure for the years to come!

Next time you see Grace ask her to do a Husky Jack for you! You will not be disappointed!

The Freemont Troll

On Sunday evening we had to run an errand to UW...so to make the most of it we headed on a family date too. I had heard about the Freemont Troll when I was researching Seattle before we moved here, 3.5 years ago. I always wanted to check it out...and it was right near UW, so we decided to see what it was all about.

It was actually pretty big. It was dirty and there were a lot of people there too. Grace wanted to climb on top of it's head and reluctantly Garrett helped her. It is clutching a full size VW bug in it's hand and Brady thought that was pretty cool.

It was a fun Seattle-ish thing to do for our family date!

Camping at Mount Rainier National Park

We spent this past weekend camping at Mount Rainier. It was a blast! The park is only a 2 hour drive from our house, so we loaded up friday afternoon and took off. The campground was great and packed though. Glad that we reserved our site online the week before. We stayed at Cougar Rock Campground. We just hung out by the fire that night and the kids LOVEd sleeping in the tent!

It was a cold night. We had hot cocoa and even built another fire in the morning. But it warmed up to near 70 during the day. We went on three hikes on Saturday. We stayed lower in elevation though because there is still a TON of snow. We did the Carter Falls hike, the Twin Firs hike and the Trail of the Shadows hike...all totalling 3.3 miles of hiking! The kids did great and were totally wiped by the end of the day. We also explored some nearby towns and got a treat during the afternoon on Saturday. We saw some really old, HUGE, trees on the Twin Firs hike. We also crossed the river, during the Carter Falls hike, our longest hike 2.2 miles up the mountain. And we saw some beavers' handiwork on the Trail of the Shadows hike.

We had a great weekend and will for sure be camping again this summer! Enjoy our crazy pictures!

The kids wanted to build a rock statue. We had to cross the river here and it was really scary with the kids. We didn't want anyone to fall in.

At the top of our longest hike. The trail kept going another 4 miles up to Paradise, but we were done after our 1.1 mile uphill trek. I think we are at 3600 feet.

This year the weather on the 4th was fantastic! Last year it rained and we didn't even see any fireworks.

We decided to head to the city of Carnation for the parade in the morning. It was a small town parade, but the kids LOVED the firetrucks and the candy. It is always great to have Garrett in town to do these things with us!

We got there an hour early to be able to get a spot along the route and the kids were MORE than ready for the parade to start...

Brady opened up any candy he could get his hands on...he LOVES sweets (and diet coke)!!!

After the parade we just hung out at home and swam in the sprinkler. Then later that night we were invited to our Bishop's house. His wife is a firework FANATIC. We are talking $$$'s worth of fireworks. So we headed over to their cul-de-sac and watched a super fun home town firework show! Brady was so tired from the day that he fell asleep mid-show! It was a great day!

Strawberries

We loaded up the car and headed out last week for some summery strawberry picking! The kids LOVED finding the bright red berries (and even some not so red) and throwing them in our basket. Two of my very best girlfriends and their kiddos came with us as well as a very sweet neighbor girl, Telsie, who helped keep an eye on all the kids!

Somebody was snitching strawberries. The evidence is all over his FACE!

We already made some jam and homemade strawberry shortcake! This is what summer is all about!

Seattle Mariners

Monday night we spent the night with the Seattle Mariners! We ended up being able to use a season ticket holders seats and they were behind first base! We ate hot dogs and cotton candy and had a great time! Too bad they LOST!

A MN visit in Boise

After our stay in Utah last week we traveled part of the way home and stopped in Boise. My mom and brother made the loooong drive from MN to Boise. My Aunt Amy and Uncle came made the flight from Tucson and we all met at my Aunt Catherine and Uncle Andy's home in Boise to spend Father's Day weekend together! We realized that only 1/3 of our family was there with us. Crazy how many there are in the family. We missed everyone a ton!

THIS is the real reason for the trip from MN. My Grandpa Stuart gave this '49 Chevy to my Uncle and he gave it to my brother, Stuart. He is going to do some major fixing and rebuilding and it is going to be soooo cool when he is done! It is still pretty cool all old and rusty! It took some major work to get it loaded on the trailer.

Grace was in LOVE with their chickens. If you didn't know where she was, all you had to do was check the chicken coop. We almost lost a few chickens though...Bitty (our dog for the next year) got into the coop when we first arrived and it was not a pretty site. When my brother finally got a hold of her she had a full mouth of feathers and one chicken has a huge bald spot on it's butt. It's sort of funny now, but boy was it traumatizing then.

The kids loved having Uncle Stu around. He played teatherball, jumped on the tramp with them, and gave them tons of pop to drink. Brady for one loved that. He is going through "diet coke" withdrawals now that we are home.

We had a bonfire on Saturday night and roasted HUGE marshmallows. It was s'mores perfection!

Here is the patriarch of the Gowans family...Stuart Gowans. And next to him is the other reason for the family gathering...Lorraine...his new bride! She is wonderful!

My Aunt bought these balloons at the dollar store. They were hilarious. You would blow them up and let them go and they would whirl around in the sky making funny noises. We had a blast with them. As you can tell by the pictures they were quite hard to blow up...but we finally got the hang of it once my Uncle pulled out the air compressor!!

Here we are lettting them all go at once. It was super funny!

And my Uncle Andy is just like my husband...You can't have a party without FIREWORKS! The kids did sparklers and so did Grandma!

A Surprise trip to Utah

So about two weeks ago we had to make plans for a quick trip to SLC. Garrett's Aunt Christine passed about sort of unexpectedly after a long time of complications with diabetes. And Grandma Annie (Garrett's mom) made the trip from Spain to be at the funeral and spend a few extra days with all of us. We left on a Friday and drove all night to get there. It was a loooonggg drive, but we made it and were so very glad that we did!

Here are all the Clegg kids and mom. It was sad that Rick couldn't have come home. You were missed for sure! But only a year left! We can't wait!

We spend the entire weekend at the cabin. We spent most of the time riding bikes! The kids LOVED that. We also ate some great food, stayed up way too late playing games and laughed and laughed! It is so fun to have 10 of 12 grandkids (Ally's two boys and husband couldn't make the trip up from Dallas) running around and playing together.

Matt brought his slack line. He tied it between two trees and pulled it as tight as he could. The challenge is to try and balance all the way across. It moves up and down and sideways. It was soooo hard. The dads and Zach were out there for a couple of hours messing around on it.

Whenever we head to the cabin Garrett ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS has to stop in Evanston and buy fireworks. We did some on Sunday night in the daylight though. We have so many young kids and the summer days are long, so we improvised. The kids didn't care at all. We had them watch from the back of the truck.

We spent the rest of the week in Utah slowly saying good bye to family members...one on Monday, two on Tuesday and Grandma on Wednesday. The kids ran through the sprinklers, ate otterpops and I even took them all to get a hair cut.

We had a fabulous time. Thanks for hosting us Hillary and Rob and thanks for coming to the US Grandma Annie!

Kindergarten Graduation

Grace graduated to the 1st grade this week! She had an amazing kindergarten year and her teacher was fabulous. Here she is with Mrs. Orcutt.

She has learned to read this year, as well as math, spelling, music, computers, and how to ride her bike without training wheels! I can't wait to see what next year brings!

Our first nice day of the summer was here and we took full advantage of it and busted out the pool! But the kids had another idea of what to do with all that water and dirt...make MUD pies out of themselves!

Our Memorial Weekend

We had a great Memorial Weekend! It was pretty crappy weather for the most part, but in between rain the sun shone in small amounts and we made the most of it for sure!

We started off the weekend at the little 9hole course by our house. It was crazy, but fun! The kids need to learn better golf etiquette for sure, but it's a start!

Then we did house work/yard work for most of Saturday and Monday.

But first thing Monday morning we headed up to one of my favorite places to hike, Twin Falls. Our kids are getting older now and it's so much fun to be able to do these kinds of things with them. We also brought the dog and she was in HEAVEN.

The kids stopped almost everyone who had a dog and asked to pet it. It was hilarious. And of course Brady slid down part of the path on his bottom. We were all muddy and tired and hungry by the time we finished the 2 mile round trip hike, but we had fun and will for sure do it again this summer!

This girl is all or nothing...she pretty much hiked the trail twice. She would run up so far ahead and then come back and join us to walk it again...and it was mostly uphill. Needless to say she took a 2.5 hour nap later! She would stop and say "take my picture here, this is a good place." And then pose for the camera.

We really had fun golfing...but the kids were more concerned with the bugs and stuff inside the cups then actually putting their ball.

Daddy Date

So Garrett has been really great about taking each child out for their very own daddy date once a month. The kids LOVE it! They do all kinds of things, but each date involves a treat of some sort for sure! This past week was Grace's turn and Garrett surprised her with her own set of junior golf clubs and they went and played a short (45-50 yd) 9hole course. It took them about an hour and they had a BLAST!

A Picnic at Rattlesnake Lake

We had some sunny weather this Saturday so we decided to pack up a picnic and head to one of our favorite places: Rattlesnake Lake. It was a little chilly up there, but the kids still loved throwing rocks in the water. We started eating our lunch and a couple of minutes later a duck was swimming by looking for some free handouts...so in true Clegg fashion...we couldn't resist!

Pretty soon we were joined by another duck and a crow! The kids LOVED it!

Brady tried to find the biggest rocks or sticks he could find...then would throw them in! Garrett and I took a bet to see which kid would fall in first...we knew that one of them would...my bets were on Brady! We finished up our lunch then went for a walk to the other side of the lake.

The water can get really high up here. It was actually really high, but not high enough to cover the trailhead path. The make shift path planks were still there though, so the kids thought it made the perfect balance beam. Check them out...all pros at balancing!

Once we got to the other side of the lake the kids braved the cold water and waded in...and it's all fun and games until...

...someone falls in! He was running around splashing the girls and totally took a nose dive into the water head first. It was hilarious! TOTALLY SOAKED! He had to wear Grace's sweatshirt and just a diaper home.

A Tulip Festival

So we skipped out on church yesterday and spend the day near Mount Vernon, Wa. at their annual Tulip Festival. We went last year, but totally missed the peak bloom time...we only saw part of one field. Yesterday everything was in FULL bloom and we saw fields and fields of amazingly bright tulips and daffodils. It was great!

And of course what would a Clegg Family outing be without an ice cream stop! We actually weren't planning on getting a treat, just to use the bathroom and we saw MAGNUMs for sale! The best ice cream ever! Very, extremely popular in Europe and I have never even had one here in the states, so of course we devoured them! And Sponge Bob push-up pops for the kids!

The kids' Easter Baskets were full and they had a blast on their egg hung! We spent the weekend playing in the sunshine, dying eggs and being together. It was great!

Our neighbor a few houses down (who is also in our ward) invited the kids and I over to dye eggs. We had a lot of fun! We used glitter and stickers and made a huge mess! But now we have 2 dozen eggs to eat.

Utah for Spring Break!

For Spring Break the kids and I headed to Utah for a week of fun! 12 Grandkids all together in one house = craziness! But everyone had a blast! The kids all slept together in their sleeping bags in the basement and loved being together. We played at the park, chalked, played basketball and even did some painting!

Snoqualmie Falls

This weekend during a break from the relentless rain, I took the kids to see Snoqualmie Falls. We have had so much rain here that we flooded again this week, but he falls were beautiful! We got our umbrellas and rain boots (two Seattle necessities) and loaded in the car. We still got soaked! Normally the falls don't even have half as much water pouring down. So it was a sight!

This year little leprechauns left a trail of green clovers all through the house. Each trail led to a gold treasure hidden somewhere for the kids to find. The kids LOVED it! We also had green pancakes for breakfast and everyone wore green, so as not to get pinched!

Sophie Turns 4

Sophie celebrated her 4th Birthday this week! I can't believe how fast my kids are growing up!

We love this little girl so much and LOVE LOVE LOVE having her in our family. She thinks Sleeping Beauty is the greatest thing EVER, so she got an Aurora dress for her present and a princess party with her friends. Garrett didn't do one of his signature cakes this year. It was a crazy weekend with him being out of town and then the threat of flooding also...so we made super cute cupcakes and that was perfect!

We had a princess dress-up party for Sophie and some of her friends. Grace didn't want to be a princess as you can see she's a skeleton...and Brady wanted to be Buzz.

Christmas Clegg Style

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone!

We had a great time this Christmas just being together as a family. I had all the shopping done before we went on our Spain trip, so that meant the week and a half leading up to Christmas we just went on daddy dates and relaxed!

I was really bad this year about taking pictures, oops. We just spent the holiday together by ourselves! We cooked a great meal, set a great table, put puzzles together and played with our new toys!

Santa brought the kids a big bag a dress-up clothes and I'm happy to say the newness has not yet worn off. We play dress-up every day!

Spain: Dec. 2-13, 2010

We had a blast!

But we also had one of the biggest disappointments of our married life too.

We had planned on spending the first 5 days of our trip in and around Milan, Italy. Our friends Aid and Beck, from England, were flying to meet us. We had it all set up. Rental car, hotels, flights, the works...45 minutes before we were scheduled to depart Madrid, the air traffic controllers in Spain (all of them, at every airport) went on STRIKE!

Needless to say many tears were shed and we were crushed. No Italy this time around.

And Thanks, Thanks, Thanks Grandma Annie Beach for watching our little ones and doing such a great job (minus 1 t.v.!!!). Grace still tells me every day that she really misses you!

Day 1: Madrid

This still cracks me up...this is the line for the lotto. Lines like this were EVERYWHERE. In every city and in every lotto shop. Too funny.

Day 2: Seville

The food wasn't the greatest...nice huh?!? Garrett did eat it too! He was brave on the trip and tried a lot of crazy things...like ox tail. I didn't get a picture of that though.

Day 3: Doing mission firesides, etc. Just in and around the mission as we headed home to Fuengirola, Spain.
Day 4: Mijas
There are bull fighting rings in every town, be it large or small. And they usually have a bullfight every sunday. They sell the tickets based on being in the sun or the shade. The bull ring in Mijas was the smallest one we saw and we saw many, but it still sat 1000 people.

There are white hill towns everywhere. They were so cute and unique to spain. They were my favorite!

Day 5: Fuegirola and Nerja "The Balcony of Europe"

Day 6: Gibraltar & Marbella
We went to the top of the Rock...and had the dirties chain smoking tour guide EVER, named Jackie. He knew a lot but smoked even more!!!

Gibraltar is owned by England. You can use the Euro or the English pound, but they have their own gibraltan pound as well. Totally worthless though everywhere but in Gibraltar.

There are TONS of apes on top of the rock. Now they are native but were brought there.

On top of the rock you can see Africa in the distance. Morocco to be exact!

There are 35 miles of tunnels that were dug out of the rock. And cannons placed inside to fortify the strait of gibraltar against attack. It was really cool!
We had a great meal of fish and chips!

We headed to the resort town of Marbella that evening to do some shopping and see what it was like. Southern Spain is gorgeous!

Day 7: Granada & The Alhambra

So much history! It was an experience for sure!

Day 8: Ronda and Antequera
Where bullfighting is said to have begin...in Ronda. This ring can seat 5000 people. But they only hold their bullfighting 1 week a year. It was be really fun to see a bullfight.

Day 9: Malaga
Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain, but left when he was 19 and never came back. They have a smallish collection in a museum there and we thought it was be fun. Then we did some shopping and caught a train to back to Madrid to start our long 2 day journey home.

We spent the last day in NYC and did some shopping and saw Harry Potter. Then we were home in our beds monday night. We missed the kids and it was great to be home! It's strange but sometimes you never even feel like we were gone!

Snowy Day

We've Been Busy

We have been up to a lot of things...all fun too! Grace started Kindergarten and I started watching a little 5mo. old here at our home...so we've been doing a lot of playdough and coloring to pass the time. But we do get out of the house to play!

Here are some things we've been doing:

the zoo

The kids are growing up soooo fast! I don't even have to bring a stroller to the zoo with me anymore...what?!?! I LOVE IT!

We took the kids to "The Fair." We rode the carousel, the kiddy rollercoaster and the GIANT SLIDE. The kids thought we were made of $$ too. They wanted to ride everything...too bad it's insanely priced fun! But we had a great time!

The Big Blue Bus

So we had the greatest visitor a couple of weeks ago...this amazingly huge BLUE BUS...my brother Stu and 3 of his buddies are on a month long road trip in this school bus converted to an RV...which they painted blue! They stayed for 3 days and we had a lot of fun. It was great to see them...the kids thought the bus was the best.thing.EVER! The guys even drove us to Grace's soccer game in it.

Thanks for coming guys! I wish we would have gotten a picture with all of you..next time the big, blue bus is out this way we'll have to get that picture!

We signed Grace up for a youth soccer league here in town and it's so much fun! It's just 3 on 3, but the kids LOVE it..there are 5 kids on her team, the COUGARS, and only 2 girls. And no joke, Grace and the other little girl Ally, are by far the best! Grace has even scored a few goals...and a couple in the other teams net, but hey, she still cheered for herself! It's really fun.

Shopie's First Day of School

Again this year I am doing a "friend" school for Sophie. There are 7 moms that participate and we rotate houses and teaching. We did it last year too and Sophie LOVED it. So we are doing it again this year, with most of the same kids and 3 new ones. The older and younger siblings join us too. We had our first lesson this week about the letter "A" and aquariums. Grace's First Day of School

As if we aren't busy enough...our little girl is starting Kindergarten this year! Her first day was tuesday and we actually just got back into town from our trip at 4:30am that morning...needless to say we (garrett and I) look pretty tired. But the kids slept all night so they were ready to go!

We live only 2 blocks from the school, so we walk Grace there and walk to pick her up. It's perfect! And she LOVES it! I just can't believe how big my kids are getting. I actually didn't even cry when we dropped her off...but Sophie was sooo sad. Too bad she has 2 more years before she gets to go to Kindergarten...oh well.

BYU vs. UW

While we were in Utah we couldn't pass up the big football game happening in Provo that weekend...Huskies and Cougars. It was so fun to be at a football game, too bad our Huskies lost. But we had great company and a great time.

Thanks so much to Lauren's dad for hooking us up with the passes for the hospitality tent...needless to say we were the small purple fish in a big blue pond for sure! But it was so much fun!

Labor Day Weekend

We spent this past Labor Day Weekend with our family in Utah...and had the best time! It was just too short! We drove through the night on thursday so that we could have the most day time with everyone...we spent some time up in Eden, the cabin in evanston, and rock climbing in the Uintahs. Misc. happenings

We have had a busy summer of fun!

Here are a few things:

A pampering baby shower for my good friend Amanda. It was a fun night of friends, pedicures and food!

Canning, canning canning...Applesauce, pears, peaches, salsa, and tomatoes! I only took pics of the applesauce though. The rest is all neatly stacked in my pantry!

I am going to be selling my soap at two craft sales this fall, one in october and one in november. I have been working really hard already getting things ready. This is some of my homemade liquid laundry soap..what do you think? I think they turned out pretty stinkin' cute!
Fishing with Dad. Garrett LOVES to fish and we live on the river so he can go out any time he wants...which isn't as much as he would like...he's so busy...and he's going to get even busier...he is going to be teaching early morning seminary at 6am starting Sept. 7!

My front flower bed is doing amazing. I have a really good friend who works at a garden center and has great tips and tricks...so things have been blooming!

Sunflowers...this is pretty funny...the kids in nursery brought home some little dixie cups with seeds in them back in march...i watered them and they grew into these beauties!

Grace didn't want to take a bath this night...she's actually liking showers more...so Brady and Sophie had the whole tub to themselves and it makes a difference to only have 2 kids in the tub instead of 3.

We went to this really fun place called Granville Island. It was a lot of fun! We fed ducks, twice, and shopped and ate delicious gelato!

Our Oregon Coast Camping Trip

I am finally getting around to sharing the pictures from our camping trip we took to the Oregon Coast...and I have to say...We will for sure be going back! We had an amazing time and the kids LOVED it!
Here is our campsite...with water, electricity and our tent, or course. The KOA we stayed at outside of Lincoln City, Oregon was so.much.fun! There was a great playground that every spare second the kids were playing at...horse swings, big tires and slides...perfect!
Elvis even performed our first night! It was hilarious! We had yummy ice cream from the Tillamook Factory and danced and sang with Elvis. It was great!

We played and played and played at the beach every day. The girls loved digging in the sand and we found an amazing place with sandy tidepools alongside some rocks and the girls couldn't get enough!
Of course we had some messy kids during the week too. I still think they are cute! Maybe even cuter with all the slime and grime!

We visited some great lighthouses and other attractions too. The scenery is like nothing else. Worth the trip for sure!
And of course the Tillamook cheese factory was a hit and more ice cream was eaten too.
The Sea Lion caves were ok. SOOO stinky! We saw a ton of sea lions during the mostly alive ones, and we even saw a dead one too. Brady kept saying "stinky sea lion" and plugging his nose for the next 3 days anytime he smelled something stinky. It was hilarious!

Here we are at the Yaquina Light House. I love lighthouses. The kids had to be at least 48in. tall to climb it and while Grace is that tall the line was HUGE, so we didn't go up. It was breathtaking though.

And who doesn't love covered bridges? I thought it was fun!

We had a great trip. The kids absolutely LOVED sleeping in the tent in their sleeping bags. It was an adventure but totally worth doing again. Happy Summer!

Summer happenings

Here are just a few things we've been up to:

We celebrated our 8the anniversary the end of June. Garrett made reservations at this amazing italian restaurant in our little town and there were 2 dozen roses waiting for us at our table. It was great!
We have been working sooo hard on the house too...(but who's kidding, when aren't we?) and finished all the trim for the windows and the baseboards on our main level. Just the upstairs left now. WOOHOO then we're done!
And we had a great 4th of July too. We just sat on our deck and watched all the neighbors set off their fireworks. And we did a few sparklers too. The girls LOVED it and Brady slept through it.

It's OK to be totally grossed out...I was beyond grossed out!

So since last friday morning I have been finding little raisin sized droppings in the kitchen, laundry room, attic and up the stairs. I thought it was a mouse, but quickly learned otherwise. I bought mouse traps at the store and baited them with peanut butter. Then found 3 out of the 4 had been licked clean and not caught anything....we had something bigger running around our house.

Garrett bought two of these HUGE rat traps and less than 12 hours later...this is what we caught.

So totally and completely the most disgusting thing EVER. I can't believe it's been running around our house. So far since Sunday, no new droppings in the house and we think we have the problem tackled.

Lauren, I would totally take ants over this thing ANY DAY...just spray raid and you're good. These guys are something to loose sleep over, believe me, I did!
