What a way to spend our 11th anniversary...with a road trip to Eastern Washington!
We headed out on Saturday and ate who knows what for our celebratory dinner...I think it was actually Burger King in North Bend, Wa! Ha ha ha!!
We tagged along with Garrett on a small recruiting trip and went to Aberdeen to visit Josh and Paige for a couple days first.
I LOVE the coast! The greens and blues and lushness of it all! We hiked and splashed in the ocean. We picnicked on the beach and explored tide pools! We also saw the WORLD'S LARGEST SPRUCE TREE!
It really was a very big tree!
We spent all day at Beach #3 about 1.5 hours north of Aberdeen. It was a beautiful day and we had a blast!
Someone seems to get wet and the clothes just come off! He was sporting his undies most of the day!!!
Grace carried her binoculars around all day. She LOVES nature and exploring.
We also spent a morning exploring Ocean Shores...not much to explore really, but we did find some fun shops...like this store! We also found an amazing candy store! Who doesn't love candy?!?!
And we found this little gem in downtown Aberdeen...a STAR WARS store! It was PACKED with memorabilia. And the store's outer wall was the best ever!
Once our couple days of fun were over in Aberdeen, we ventured to Seattle. We spent an afternoon at the Museum of Flight. It is an amazingly cool place. And now has some really cool NASA memorabilia in another building across the street.
Air Force One
Then the next day we hit up Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium
And it didn't disappoint either!
We happened upon the tiger at feeding time. The kids loved seeing mr. tiger catch huge pieces of meat thrown from across the gorge!
Then we played in the kids area for over and hour, leaving right at zoo closing time!
On our way out of town we headed to the Seattle Art Museum. I had read an article about an Eric Carle exhibit that was on it's last few days. So we checked that out. It was really neat. Then we went in to the hands on art exhibit and did lino prints and finger painting.
It was a packed few days, but the kids did great! Of course there was swimming involved and lots of yummy food, like Red Robin, that you can't get in Pullman! We sure love our small town life, but are grateful for weekends we can spend enjoying big city life!
