Our Weekend

This weekend was really busy, but really fun too!

Here is the first of the spoils from our garden...not everything, just the lettuce! Super yummy! We should have some tomatoes soon though.
We finally had summery weather around these parts for a change! This is what the kids spent all day saturday doing...

...and ate A LOT of these too...
...and pretty much had the best.day.ever!
Here is what Garrett did all day saturday: window trim. We also finished the beadboard in the bathroom, the beadboard backsplash in the kitchen and hung some cabinet doors. We also did a few other little projects that needed to get done. It was a very productive weekend on the home front!
And this is what I did on saturday...something these girls and I have been working on for about a month. And it turned out amazing!
Me, Alea, Amber (the mom-to be), Amanda (who is also having a boy in Sept.), Wendy, and Becky.
Here is Amber with her onesie banner. I love making these. Becky made the diaper cake on the mantel. We used an authentic horse rope (not sure the technical term for it) and we had cowboy hats on each end.
We had trailmix and twizzlers and thank you favors. Wendy made the most adorable "thanks for a rootin' tootin' good time" jars filled with cowboy shaped candies and I made the baby soap.
Sunflowers and Mason blocks. The baby's name is going to be mason. These were on the food table. Wendy made the cupcakes too.
Here is our invitation...I totally stole some of the ideas but it turned out too cute!
The spread...we had cowboy caviar, veggies, 'lil smokies in bbq sauce, cilantro dip and fruit kabobs. We had lemonade and water. And of course lots and lots of bandanas for the decorations.

This was the first thing you saw when you walked in the house.

And here is the outside decor! It was so much fun! And we had an amazing turnout too. Can't wait to see this little baby!

FInally...SUMMER!

Yesterday we had an amazing day together as a family. Garrett ended up coming home a couple of days early from his trip and I thought we should just play! The weather was supposed to be nice, like 70 and sunny. Which doesn't sound like much to most of you out there, but we have had 21 days of rain here in the northwest, so we needed to get out and enjoy the sun. So we packed a picnic loaded the car and grabbed our sunscreen.

We did our standard, the zoo. But with some new additions: the meerkats. Super cute! And we also ventured over to the family farm, complete with petting zoo. The kids LOVED it!

Then we headed to an amazing beach that has a little california feel to it called ALKI. We ate our picnic and played in the water and sand. I got to relax while Garrett chased the kids.
It wasn't quite warm enough for swimming though and these little guys filled the water. This unfortunate jellyfish got washed ashore as the tide was going out. It's really fun to live here and experience this and the ocean.
I was so excited to be able to wear my new sandals and show off my pedicure! YEAH for summer. (too bad it's raining yet again today)

We bought watermelon on the way home and on enjoyed a great night at home...all except for SHREK. We went to see that too. The girls loved it, but Brady needs to get a little older before we bring him to the movies again!

More Preschool

I just wanted to share some of Grace's art from her year of preschool. She LOVED it and learned so much! We had an amazing group of teachers too.
Eric Carle's Mr. Seahorse
Percy the Owl. That is what Grace named it.
Eric Carle's A House for Hermit Crab.
Grace's super cute goldfish.
Triceratops
Stegasouras
Her Big Red Barn
Her cow.

She did most of the cutting and coloring too. It was amazing to see what she brought home each day.

Last Day of Preschool

Grace has been in the best preschool this past year. It has been amazing for her. I have saved a ton of her artwork and I'll get some posted here once i can take some pictures of it. She has learned a lot and has grown a lot too. Kindergarten is next...wow!!
Miss Leslie
Miss Sandy
Grace, August and Charlie,
Miss Lynne
I graduated!

The Many Faces of Brady

We can't get enough of this little guy! He is talking way too much and growing way too fast!
Here are a few pics of this hilarious little boy:

Huge head bonk running into church on Sunday. He LOVES nursery and thinks he can spend all three hours there. Too bad for him (and mom) that we have sacrament meeting first. He's trying to escape the whole time. He fell on the sidewalk running after his sisters into church and nailed his head. He was okay though, nothing that a tootsie roll can't fix!
He loves the ipod and the videos it takes, so he thought my camera was taking a video. Just a funny one with his chocolate covered face.
We had a really bad flu bug run through our house and the carseat needed to be cleaned...so after the cleaning and rethreading of the seatbelt, Brady wanted to be buckled in for while. Just a goofball.
Our little boy is just so cute! Go Huskies. He loves hats too.

Our Super Busy Life

I usually get so impatient with people for not keeping up with their blog postings...and now I am the lazy one, or maybe it's just that we are so busy at our house. Either way I have been really bad about keeping this blog updated...hopefully I will be better.

Here are some of the fun things that we have been up to as a family lately:

We or I built a really great bonfire pit on our property and we have been making bonfires all spring long. The kids LOVE it! Grace especially loves them! We make smores too. The kids don't like them all that much, they just like the idea of roasting the marshmallows, then they make Garrett or I eat them

The girls have been in a little soccer class for the last month too. Grace can't get enough of it! Sophie on the other hand is hit and miss. But it's fun. Brady runs around the field trying to steal the soccer balls the whole time. He LOVES any kind of ball. He's such a boy!

We have also been doing a little more golf as a family too. We go out to the UW home course practice facility and putt and chip and fly kites. Yes, I said fly kites.

Brady just loves to golf right now. He is always finding things to go "back and through," as his dad taught him. He has used wooden play knives and marbles, hairbrushes and bouncy and bubble wands and plastic whiffle balls. He is hilarious. The whole time saying "back and through." He does have some real clubs and real golf balls, but I have to put my foot down and they are only outside toys. But he wakes up every morning wanting to golf outside. He tells me too. He is a cutie!

Grace and dad flying kites. She had a great time. It's amazing how being only 2 years older than Sophie, how different and more grown up Grace has gotten in the past year. She is just into different things. I think it's great! Now if we can just get the wind without the rain...
